Why I don't Celebrate Easter!

This year Billions of people celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Friday 18th and Sunday 19th of April. But do you really know what you are celebrating?

I want to make this clear I am not trying to offend any religion. I am just stating why I don't observe this Easter Tradition. I understand that not may people will understand why I do this. I just ask that you respect my view and as I respect yours!

So what Religion are you then?

I'm not Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism or Jehovah's Witnesses. I am a Christian of the Living Church of God. We do not believe Christ died and was resurrected during this time of Easter.

So you must believe in Something?

Well I do! It's called Passover, Night to Be Much Observed and Feast of Unleavened Bread.
On Sunday the 13th of April I took part in a Passover ceremony which was instructed by Jesus Christ on the night before his crucifixion. This was the time that only the baptised member of my church took part in. First began with an a foot washing (John 13:1-20), then the blessing of the unleavened bread and wine (Matthew 26:26-28).

Night to be much Observed is a night for Church Brethren, to come together. This year it was held on Monday the 14th April. To reflect on the time when our people came out of the land of Egypt (Exodus 12:42).

Feast of Unleavened Bread (Exodus 34:18) which commands us from sunset on the 14th April after the Night to Be Much Observed, we are to eat unleavened bread and remove leaving product from our homes for 7 days.

Many people will say that the "Old Testment" is done away with, I say not, Christ says "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4). How many of you really understand this simply scripture? I know and the truth is not many will!

Ok so why haven't I heard this?

Christianity has evolved over the years adapting to new traditions to keep people interested.

So, where did Easter com from then?

But didn't Christ Died on Friday and Resurrected on Sunday?

NO! Taken from Mr John H. Ogwyn Articles titled "The Resurrection was not on Easter Sunday!" Click here for full article. He take about:

How is it possible to equate three days and three nights with the time between "Good Friday" and "Easter Sunday"? Count it yourself; it simply will not work! Some assert that "three days and three nights" is a Greek idiom and can mean any portion of three days and three nights. But this theory fails when we allow the Bible to define its own terms.

"But," many will respond, "doesn't the Bible say that Jesus was crucified and buried on Friday and that the tomb was empty on Sunday morning?" It is true that the tomb was already empty on Sunday morning, but the Bible nowhere speaks of a Friday crucifixion. It does say that He was crucified on the "preparation day" (Mark 15:42–45), but we must recognize which preparation day this was. Remember, the Bible speaks of annual Sabbaths—"Holy Days"—in addition to the weekly Sabbath (cf., Leviticus 23:4, 7, 24, 27–32). Jesus was crucified on the preparation day before an annual Sabbath, during the daylight portion of the Passover—Abib 14 on the Hebrew calendar. The following day—Abib 15—is an annual Holy Day, the first Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Passover fell on a Wednesday in 31ad, the year of Jesus' crucifixion. Thursday was an annual Sabbath, the first Holy Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Jesus was buried just before sunset on Wednesday afternoon, and was in the tomb Wednesday night, Thursday, Thursday night, Friday, Friday night, and Saturday—three days and three nights, just as He promised. He was resurrected just before sunset on Saturday afternoon, exactly 72 hours after His burial. On Sunday morning, when the women came at dawn to embalm His body, He was already gone. They did not see the resurrection; they saw an empty tomb, and were told by an angel that He had risen just as He said He would.

So why do you keep these?

Because I have been commanded by Jesus and by God to keep His Holy Days. (Deuteronomy 12:29-31; Jeremiah 10:1-2). Because the Heart is desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9).
